An unreleased song by the late iconic musician David Bowie has recently been transformed into a music non-fungible token (NFT). Gala Music, a subsidiary of Web3 startup Gala Games, has partnered with music producer Larry Dvoskin and publisher Warner Chappell Music to release a limited edition collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) featuring an unheard version of David Bowie’s 1983 hit “Let’s Dance.” Details surrounding the NFT release such as platform and distribution method are yet to be revealed.

Recorded Version Of Song

The track was recorded in 2000 and has remained unreleased until this new development. This NFT venture is expected to create a unique visual and auditory experience for collectors, providing them with the opportunity to own a piece of music history while honoring the life and work of the legendary artist. David Bowie left behind an extensive discography encompassing 27 studio albums, 11 live albums, four soundtracks, and 128 singles. The forthcoming NFT collection will unveil a previously unreleased version of “Let’s Dance,” co-produced by Dvoskin and Bowie in 2002.

Release Of 3,003 Artwork NFTs

Gala Music plans to launch 3,003 Bowie-inspired artwork NFTs on April 14th, exactly four decades after the original release of “Let’s Dance.” Each NFT will grant its owner exclusive access to the unreleased version of the song. The NFTs will be available for purchase on a “pay-what-you-wish” basis with initial profits supporting MusiCares charity offering health and human services to individuals in the music industry.

Previous Blockchain Projects From The Estate

This is not the first iteration of blockchain based project from Bowie estate. In 2022 they collaborated with OpenSea marketplace introducing “Bowie on Blockchain” which faced criticism from supporters who believed that it contradicted principles held by artist himself. Starly decentralized platform also released another collection called “Bowie on Blockchain” raising funds for charity but it was met with similar reactions from fans around world.

Growing Interest In NFTS Within Music Industry

The music industry has seen growing interest in NFTS as way for fan engagement with artists delivering exclusive content creating additional revenue streams . Several well known artists including Kings Of Leon , Grimes , Aphex Twin have explored NFTS as part component their projects leading reimagining fan interaction consumption digital age .
